Hi, I am John Miedema. In 2009 I published a book, Slow Reading, a set of essays about the benefits of reading at a voluntary pace. It was a timely book, a perspective in the trending debate about e-readers. The book caught an international wave of interest. I was invited on the speaking circuit and interviewed by several major media. That was fun.
Since then I have been working on a larger imaginative work, exploring ideas about books, the internet and machine life. This new work is called After Reading. I am drafting the work as a web series. The best versions of the content are listed in the Table of Contents. I will eventually publish the completed work as an illustrated book. It is a labour of love and I am in no hurry. Slow writing, I suppose.
